A real estate agent website in India should do three jobs: show your current listings with honest details, prove you are a registered and real agent, and make it easy for a buyer to send a site-visit request on WhatsApp or by phone. In practice that means listing pages with carpet area, price and location, your RERA details where they apply, pages for the areas you cover, and a short enquiry form.
This guide goes through each part, with examples from Hyderabad, and the mistakes that make buyers close the tab.
What should a real estate agent website include?
Here is the short checklist. Each point is explained below.
- Listings, one page each: property type, carpet area, floor, facing, price or "starting from", and real photos.
- Your RERA registration number, and the project's RERA number for projects that need one.
- Area pages for the localities you actually work in, such as Kondapur, Kokapet or Tellapur.
- A site-visit enquiry form: name, phone, which property, preferred day.
- One-tap call and WhatsApp buttons, visible on every page on a phone.
- A Google map with your office location and timings.
- About you: your name, a photo of your office, how long you have worked in the area, and the kind of properties you handle.
- A short FAQ: brokerage, documents, loan help, how site visits work.
Do you need a website if you are already on property portals?
Portals bring a lot of buyers, and you should stay on them. But on a portal your listing sits next to other agents' listings, the buyer's enquiry may go to several agents at once, and you can't show everything about how you work. Your own site is the place a buyer lands after they search your name, see your board, or get your link on WhatsApp.
Portals and your own website do different jobs. Most agents need both.
| Property portal | Your own website | |
|---|---|---|
| Buyers already browsing | Yes, many | Only those who find you |
| Enquiry comes only to you | Not always | Yes |
| Your name and brand first | No, shared page | Yes |
| You decide the layout and details | Limited | Yes |
| Works as a link on WhatsApp and visiting cards | Partly | Yes |
How should you show RERA details on your website?
If you sell or market projects in Telangana, this matters. In February 2026, TG-RERA issued show-cause notices over pre-launch advertisements and warned promoters, developers, real estate agents and advertising platforms against advertising projects without valid registration, as Deccan Chronicle reported. According to NewsMeter's report on the same notices, the registration number must be prominently displayed in all promotional material, including digital advertisements.
Agents have their own registration too. Godrej Capital's TS-RERA explainer says agents who facilitate sales in RERA-registered projects must register, and that the certificate must be quoted in transactions and advertisements.
On your website, that translates to:
- Your agent registration number in the footer of every page, and on the About page.
- The project's RERA number on each project listing, close to the project name, in readable text (not hidden in a small image).
- A line telling buyers they can check details on the official TG-RERA website.
- No listings for projects that are still waiting for registration.
This is general information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with your RERA authority or a lawyer.
How to write a listing page buyers trust
A buyer on a phone wants facts fast. A good listing page answers the questions they would otherwise ask you on WhatsApp.
Sample design: the details a buyer looks for, in the order they look for them.
- Headline with type, size and area: "3 BHK, 1,650 sq ft carpet, Kondapur" says more than "Luxury living".
- Price or "starting from". If you can't show the exact price, a starting price saves both of you a call.
- Carpet area, floor, facing, parking, possession date. Mention whether it is ready to move or under construction.
- Real photos with the date taken. For under-construction projects, add a recent site photo.
- Distance to known landmarks: metro station, ORR exit, schools, hospitals. Keep these accurate.
- The RERA number where applicable.
- One clear button: "Book a site visit".
Mark sold properties as sold, or remove them. Stale listings quickly cost you a buyer's trust.
Do area pages help you show up on Google?
They can. Google's help page on how local ranking works says results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. A page that clearly covers "flats for sale in Tellapur", with your current listings there, nearby schools and roads, and your office details, is more relevant to that search than a single homepage that mentions twenty areas in one line.
Write area pages only for places you really work in. Two or three useful pages beat fifteen thin ones. Google's SEO starter guide makes the same point in its own words: write for people, and make content helpful and easy to read.
Alongside your site, set up and keep your free Google Business Profile updated. You can do that yourself; make sure the name, phone and address match your website exactly.
How should enquiries reach you?
Most buyers in India would rather send a WhatsApp message than fill a long form. Give them both options and keep the form short.
The path from a Google search to a site visit should take a buyer only a few taps.
A site-visit form needs only four fields: name, phone, property, preferred day. Every extra field is one more reason to give up. Make sure the enquiry lands on a phone someone checks, and reply the same day.
Common mistakes on real estate agent websites
- A slider of stock photos on the homepage. Buyers want to see real flats, not models on a balcony.
- "Call for price" on everything. Some buyers won't call. A range or starting price keeps them reading.
- Old listings left live. Remove or mark them sold every week.
- No RERA numbers, or numbers in tiny text. Put them where people can read them.
- Only a contact page. Put call and WhatsApp buttons on every listing.
FAQ
How many pages does a real estate agent website need? A homepage, a listings page (or one page per project), an About page and a Contact page are enough to start. Add area pages for the two or three localities you focus on.
Should I show the price on my website? Show it if you can, or show a starting price or range. Buyers filter by budget first, and a page with no price often gets skipped.
Can I list resale flats as well as new projects? Yes. Keep resale and new projects in separate sections so buyers can filter quickly, and put the RERA number on projects where it applies.
How often should I update the website? Whenever a listing changes, and at least once a week. Pick a website where you can change prices and photos yourself from your phone.
